Say Goodbye to Plantar Warts π Plantar refers to the sole of your foot (nothing to do with gardening). Their official name is Verrucae Pedis, which means a wart on the foot (part of the human papilloma virus family). They’re contagious, easily spread through direct contact with the virus on the skin & may be painful due to a build-up of hard skin. At our clinic, we have many effective wart relief & removal solutions available. For stubborn warts, we also have other options available, such as nitric acid or blunt dissection. What can I do about it? - Avoid going barefoot in places where warts easily spread, such as public showers - See a podiatrist for a proper diagnosis. We can then guide you through the right treatment options. - Make sure you are generally healthy with a strong immune system What help can I get for this? - A Podiatrist will remove any overlying thick hard skin and advise on treatment options. Our preferred treatment is Spirularin VS cream which is painless & wound free. You can apply this at home. When will it get better? In children, verrucae usually resolve within months of using the Spirularin VS cream. Most warts (85%) will eventually go away on their own, with some taking years. Wart are you waiting for? Get in touch with us today for an effective wart removal treatment. As many of you will know from recent visits to the clinic, we’ve welcomed new members to the team; Kim (podiatrist), Jordan (reception) and Donna (reception) π Let us firstly introduce Jordan Corp, our part-time receptionist. Jordan has been with us since the end of May last year, enjoying the opportunity to build on client relationships. When not at the clinic, Jordan is a busy Mum to two children (Lachlan, 8, and Olivia, 3). She also goes by Ma'am as part of the officer team at 11 Squadron Air Training Corp, Hastings. She loves a good Minecraft session and developing her garden at their new home in Havelock North. Podiatrist Kim is a recent graduate from the AUT School of Podiatry. As a new graduate, Kim brings up-to-date knowledge in podiatry applied research. When she's not in the clinic, you can find her on a skateboard or spending time with her siblings, who have all recently moved here from Puhoi. Donna joins us from Blackboard Jungle, where she worked as a retail assistant for over 10 years. She is now our full-time receptionist. Donna's warm and fun personality, keen eye for detail, and extensive customer service experience align perfectly with our team's values. Her years in the retail industry have given her a deep understanding of people's diverse needs and the significance of attentive listening. Donna lives by the mantra, "A smile and honesty are non-negotiable". Outside of work, she is passionate about creative design and takes pride in being a mother to three wonderful grown daughters. Next time you’re in at the clinic, make sure you say hello! π #boycepodiatry #team #welcomeButton

Challenging the traditional around ankle braces for stability, we now offer the EXO-L ankle protection range at the clinic π¦Άπ― These awesome, non-conventional preventative braces save the hassle of tape strapping, and are specifically designed to support the ankle during fast-paced & high impact sports like hockey, netball & basketball. No more bulky ankle braces ruining the fit of your sports shoes. They are a comfortable protective measure from sprains, like a seat belt for your ankle, where the strap only tightens when a specific, risky motion happens. One of our philosophies at the clinic is “challenge the traditional”. An example which demonstrates this approach is the utilisation of a 3D scanner which attaches to our clinic iPad. This technology allows higher accuracy, precision, and consistency when generating an image & designing the orthotic π£ 3D scanning: - Enables higher accuracy and more consistent results - Is faster than traditional options (such as plaster of paris or foam box casting) - Enables us to get our orthotics made and delivered to clients faster - Is more environmentally friendly (no wasted material in the process compared to traditional methods) #boycepodiatry #challengethetraditionalButton

We have some pretty amazing machines here in the clinic. The one shown here is called our high power laser. We're very lucky to have this technology to help you on your road recovery. We use this as an adjunct to your treatment as there is almost always either a muscle imbalance or something else we need to address. The laser can be used for a variety of conditions ranging from very acute to chronic. If you've been suffering from aches and pains why not make an appointment and let us see how we can help you. #bettertobest #photobiomodulationButton

According to the MΔori calendar (Maramataka MΔori), the rising of Matariki brings the old lunar year to a close and marks the beginning of the new year. Interestingly, some iwi celebrate Puanga instead of Matariki. This is due to the fact that in some parts of New Zealand Matariki is not visible and Puanga is the next closest star of importance. At Boyce we love the story of Matariki and her children, and how each one acknowledges a different aspect. For example, sharing our own history, holding those past and present close to our hearts, and recognising our goals and hopes for the year ahead. Yesterday we decided to hold a shared lunch to further learn more about each of our cultures (we have a nice mixed bag in the clinic). Some featured New Zealand items were some fluffy cheese scones bakes by Susan and Lynley baked the famous Anne Southerland chocolate. Also on the sharing table we got to experience the taste of Scotland. Some scotch pies and some Stroma malt whiskey liquer bought in by Diane. A taste of South Africa was another among the table, a milktart dessert baked by Kylie. What have you done to acknowledge or celebrate Matariki?Button

Today was Hoods Up Wednessay to support Autism NZ. Why hoodies? Many autistic people experience sensory input like light, sound and touch more intensely, and wearing a hoodie with the hood up can help to block out uncomfortably loud sounds or bright light. Hoodies also tend to be made of softer fabrics, which are much more comfortable for autistic people who have sensitivities to touch and texture. Wearing a hoodie for Hoods Up Wednesday helps to raise awareness that hoods are a tool for autistic people to feel more comfortable in a world that isn’t designed for them – someone with their hood up is not necessarily aggressive or scary, they may just be trying to cope with an overwhelming amount of sensory input. #autismnzhoodsupButton

There's often a misconception about what Podiatrists do during a skin & nail appointment. We look for many things when you come in for a skin and nail tidy up. We check your foot health status, this includes; - Checking circulation (blood flow) to your feet - Presence of hair (this is another good indicator of how good the blood flow is) - How your skin looks (are they any tears, cracks, etc) - Whether there are any harmful lesions, wounds or infections The Podiatrist will look at the health of your skin and nails. Note any nails, which could cause problems later down the line and whether there is any fungal making an appearance. Then we will provide advice on taking your feet from better to best.Button

Start the year with the right fit. Whether you spend a lot of time on your feet for work or school, finding the right pair of shoes for your feet can help prevent foot problems. Here are a few things to consider when looking for your next pair of shoes: π Comfortable support along the arch π A proper fit (ideally 1cm extra in length and enough space to prevent pinching to the toes and sides of feet) π Well-cushioned soles to absorb shock and reduce pressure π Immediate comfort (without the need to “break them in”) π Breathable materialButton

Support your feet this summer! Comfortable and contoured with soft arch support, Archies Jandals are a must have. π©΄ We don’t normally recommend jandals, but with the heat of Hawke’s Bay, it’s no surprise that they are the go-to footwear choice during warmer months. Myth: Foot inserts / orthotics solves all foot pain. Fact: Foot pain is very individual and different for everyone. Depending on the problem, one of our Podiatrists might recommend a pair of orthotics, but this would usually be as part of a longer term plan. This could include strength work or one of the other treatment modalities we've got here in the clinic. Depending on the situation and the condition, orthotics will either be used as a long term or short term option, however this is very specific to the individual sitting in front of us. If you’ve been experiencing foot pain or have been having foot issues, why not call and make an appointment to see one of our lovely Podiatrists. We are conveniently located at the Village Health Centre at 33 Napier Road, Havelock North or call 06-877-3249.Button

Myth: Flat feet are bad Fact: There is a common misconception that flat feet are bad. Everyone’s bodies are so different and that includes your feet. However, having flatter feet, especially if it has become more apparent recently, can start to cause problems. In childhood your arches start to develop. As you play and run, your muscles start to strengthen, your coordination and balance improves and you develop your gait (which is how you walk and run). So, flat feet aren't necessarily a bad thing, however they can predispose you to some problems. This is because as your feet roll in, the tendons, muscles and ligaments have to work harder during your walking and standing as they are being stretched further than what they're used to. If you’re worried about your foot pain or flat feet, why dont you book in to see one of our lovely Podiatrists. We are located at the Village Health Centre at 33 Napier Road, Havelock North, or call 06-877-3249Button

Myth: Putting a ‘V’ in your nails will stop an ingrown nail. Fact: Putting a ‘V’ in your nail may help to relieve some pressure, but it does not remove the ingrown nail. An ingrown nail is usually caused by a ‘spike’ of nail that has been left behind after cutting the nail. If you have an ingrown nail the best way to take care of it, is to come and see us. We have the proper training and instruments to address the problem as painlessly as possible.Button
